counselors in training

Special Session counselors must be 16 and have completed the 10th grade at school.  We also know that there are some awesome younger folks who would be a great addition to our community!

CITs stay in the cabins with campers, counselors and lead counselors. They are not assigned a specific camper, but help out in the cabin generally. CITs are not expected to administer direct personal care (like bathing, toileting, etc).

Serving in a cabin at Special Session requires maturity and endurance. The cabins are comfortable and air-conditioned, but it's sometimes difficult to sleep. It's a 24/7 job for our staff; breaks are minimal and we don't have a whole lot of time for just hanging out. CITs should come prepared to spend a week in service, to learn to care for people, and to have your life transformed by this community.

CITS are able to attend just one summer session.
Expectations and Requirements:
CITs must
  • be 15 and have completed 9th grade
  • familiarize yourself with campgrounds
  • be available to assist your cabin lead with fetching supplies or aid as needed
  • participate in games and activities, including set-up and clean-up
  • enjoy meals, events, and downtime with campers and counselors
  • be fully present for the entirety of pre-camp training sessions as well as daily staff meetings
  • adhere to the community covenant regarding how we act while at camp
  • communicate with session directors and adult staff liaison as needed throughout the week
