How do I attend a virtual workshop?
You sign up to attend, and then you tune in to all or some of the events. When you register, we will send you information about how to use the technology.
Do I need a computer? Do I need software?
You can join us using your computer, tablet, or smart phone.
Who is this for?
We have geared this day toward people who are a part of the Special Session community (campers, staff, and other participants in Special Session and Unbound). Anyone can attend, but there will be some parts of the conversation that are specifically about how we do things at camp.
Do I have to register?
Yes. When you register, we’ll be able to send you all of the technical and logistical information.
Do I have to attend the whole thing?
We know that everyone has different capacities for screen time, different ability to commit to time off, etc. We hope you’ll engage as you are able. For our time with Heather McCain and Judy Heumann, we do ask that those who join commit to being present for the whole session.
Is there a deadline to register?
The deadline to register is November 10th.
What is a watch party? Do I have to have Netflix?
A watch party is a virtual movie screening.
Do I have to pay?
No, this event is free to attend.
What is compline?
Compline is a Christian Episcopal service to close the day, an opportunity to give thanks for the joys and graces experienced. Special Session is a ministry of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Alabama.
Who is Judy Heumann?
Judith Heumann is an internationally recognized leader in the disability community and a lifelong civil rights advocate for disadvantaged people. Read more about Judy here.
Who is Heather McCain?
Heather McCain is Executive Director of Creating Accessible Neighbourhoods, a non-profit they founded in 2005. Heather’s own experiences with multiple types of disabilities, inaccessibility, and ableism led them to become a well-known and respected advocate, speaker, educator, and activist who works to create equity, celebrate diversity, and educate about and implement accessibility. What if I can't make it?
Some parts of the day will be recorded and available for viewing later. We hope you'll make it to our next Day of Focus!
