Unbound

Unbound is a fall weekend retreat for people with physical disabilities, with a focus on serving people who use wheelchairs, staffed by adult volunteers. The purpose of the event is to create meaningful relationships, to interact with the beauty of creation, and to experience Christian community at Bethany Village.
Meal Donation for Unbound
We are looking for six groups to prepare meals for a retreat. Unbound is a retreat for people with disabilities, with a focus on serving people in wheelchairs, staffed by adult volunteers. The purpose of the event is to create meaningful relationships, to interact with the beauty of creation, and to experience Christian community at Bethany Village. We would like to invite different groups to help us create the space for this experience by preparing meals for our staff and participants during the weekend.

Here are the dates available:

Nov 9, 7PM: Staff (30) Thursday Dinner (Hall Hall):
Nov 10 12PM : Staff (30) Friday Lunch (Hall Hall):
Nov 10 7PM: Friday Dinner (Hall Hall):
Nov 11 12PM : Saturday Lunch (Phifer Hall):
Nov 11 7PM: Saturday Dinner (Phifer Hall):
Nov 12 12PM: Sunday Lunch (Phifer Hall):

How many people is this meal for?
Meals during staff training (Thursday dinner and Friday lunch) are for 30 people. All remaining meals are for 45 people.

What kind of kitchen facilities are available?
There is a sink available in Hall Hall but no warming facilities. In Phifer Hall there is a non-industrial kitchen, including an oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator and freezer. We recommend that meals be prepared in advance, and then warmed at camp if needed.

Are there any special dietary accommodations?
We will have some vegetarians (count will be available Nov 1) and may have gluten-free or low sugar requests. We will work with you to help provide for everyone.

Do we need to come and serve the food?
We would love for you to come serve food, but it’s not required. If it’s not possible for you to come and serve, our staff can warm and serve food that you’ve prepared.

Who provides plates, utensils, etc?
We will provide plates, bowls, utensils, cups, and napkins. We will provide water to drink; you are welcome to bring other drinks as well.

Do you have any suggestion for what we could prepare?
One pot dishes like gumbo, lasagna, or stews are nice in the fall and easy to serve to a group. We will be grateful for whatever meal you prepare.
